Former President Of Rourkela Bar Association Found Dead At His Residence

Rourkela: Ramesh Bal, former president of Rourkela Bar Association, was found hanging at his residence at Daily Market in Odisha’s Rourkela on Monday night.

According to police sources, Bal was found hanging in his house at Haryana Bhawan lane within Plant Site police limits in the wee hours of the day. “Bal was found hanging at around 3.30 am by his wife,” said Additional superintendent of police (ASP) BK Bhoi told TNIE.

On being informed, police arrived at the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. From preliminary investigation, it is suspected that he died by suicide.

A suicide note addressed to the IIC was also found near the body in which the deceased allegedly stated that his decision to end his life was due to family issues. He also mentioned that he lost property worth 3 crores and was not keeping well. However, he held no one responsible for his death.

Bal was elected president of Rourkela Bar Association several times. He also served as chairman of the erstwhile Rourkela Municipality. He served as president of Rourkela Bar Association for over 15 years. He was also a social worker and politician.
