Dhenkanal: A former college principal has been arrested for allegedly running a fake Plus II certificate racket in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district.
According to sources, Atal Bhiari Barik was serving as principal of Birasal Regional College under Kankadahada police limits in the district from 2009 to 2016. During this period, he used to arrange fake Plus II certificates and sell those to the students at a hefty amount. He was reportedly charging lakhs of rupees per each certificate.
After his illegal activities were exposed through RTA information, Barik was absconding. It has come to light that Barik himself had got the job by producing fake certificate. He used to procure the forged certificates from Raipur in Chhattisgarh, the sources said.
Confirming the arrest of Barik, deputy collector Jyoti Shankar Sahu said there were several allegations against him. “After his arrest, the police are investigating those complaints and action will be taken on the basis of the investigation report.
Following the arrest, the police have forwarded the former principal to court. Barik belongs to Sukinda in Jajpur district.
