Bhubaneswar: Former DGP of Tamil Nadu Jalad Kumar Tripathy has been sworn-in as Odisha Chief Information Commissioner on Tuesday.
Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal administered the Oath of Office to Tripathy at a function at Raj Bhawan here, in the virtual presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The 1985-batch IPS officer (retd) of TN cadre was appointed to the CIC post which had fallen vacant after the retirement of Sunil Mishra on August 15 this year.
Tripathy, who retired as DGP on June 30, was also the Police Commissioner of Chennai.
Born at Bheda of Cuttack district, he served in some sensitive posts in TN like IGP, South Zone. He was posted with the Crime Branch CID and Economic Offences Wing and gained popularity for cracking the 2012 Chennai Bank Robberies.
