Former VP Jagdeep Dhankhar Hospitalised After Fainting Episodes

Jagdeep Dhankhar hospitalised

New Delhi: Former Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi after he fainted twice last weekend, officials said.

Dhankhar had “two bouts of unconsciousness” on Saturday when he went to the washroom, and was advised medical evaluation.

“Today, he had gone to the AIIMS for a checkup. Doctors advised he should get admitted for tests,” PTI quoted an official as saying.

According to sources, Dhankhar collapsed t

wice in the washroom on January 10.

An MRI scan and other tests will be done to determine the cause of fainting episodes.

Dhankhar has a history of losing consciousness, an official said. He had fainted while attending public events at the Rann of Kutch, Uttarakhand, Kerala and Delhi as Vice-President.

Dhankhar resigned from the post of Vice-President on July 21, citing health reasons.

However, the timing of his decision to step down raised questions with the Opposition saying there was more to it than meets the eye.

It was on the first day of last year’s Monsoon Session of Parliament that Dhankhar announced his decision, having presided over Rajya Sabha proceedings earlier in the day.

There was one view which suggested that Dhankhar didn’t toe the BJP line on certain issues. For one, he accepted the Opposition’s notice in Judge Yashwant Varma’s impeachment case.
