Koraput: Former skipper of Odisha women’s U-19 cricket team Ritu Singh has secured 204 rank in the Civil Services Examination 2018 conducted by the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).
She is currently serving as a constable with Odisha Police.
A native of Jeypore in Koraput district, she cracked the exam without any coaching or tuition.
The results were declared on Monday and she got a call from her brother-in-law about it while returning from work in a bus. “I scrolled through the site and was so happy to see that I had cleared the exam,” said Ritu.
A change in career was a tough call for her. “On some days, I failed to realize the day-night transition,” she told a local news channel.
Being a sportsperson, she also found it difficult to study at length. “I could crack the exam because of the blessings of my family and their immense support,” she added. Her father is a motor mechanic.
