Bhubaneswar: The challenges faced by senior citizens and government policies to address those were highlighted by speakers at a function organised on the occasion of the 11th Foundation Day of Federation of Senior Citizens’ Associations of Odisha (FOSCAO), here on Sunday.
The Association also held it annual general meeting on the occasion at Institute of Engineers in the city. Minister of Science & Technology, Public Enterprises, Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disability Ashok Chandra Panda; Editor of Odia daily ‘Sambad’, Soumya Ranjan Pattanaik; Commissioner of Police, Soumendra Priyadarshi and HelpAge India Odisha Head Bharati Chakra were among the dignitaries who attended the event.
The invited guests spoke on the “Challenges for Senior Citizens in India”, government policy to deal with the economic and physical dependency of the older persons, ageing and healthcare and social issues that involved the seniors.
More than 400 delegates from across Odisha participated in the event. President of the association Dr Krupasindhu Panda and general secretary Dr PK Das coordinated the event.
