Bhubaneswar: It won’t be long before the proposed mega steel plant in Odisha’s Kendujhar district becomes a reality, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Saturday.
“Very soon, the foundation stone of the much-awaited mega steel plant will be laid in Kendujhar,” Majhi said.
Speaking at Raikala in Kendujhar’s Jhumpura block, CM Majhi said the project will help accelerate industrialisation and strengthen the district’s role in the development journey of the state and country.
Majhi, who was visiting his native village in his home district, said he was firmly committed to transforming Kendujhar into one of the most modern and leading districts not only in Odisha but in India.
Irrigation projects coming up
Majhi laid the foundation stone for three major mega lift irrigation projects which will benefit farmers in Kendujhar and Mayurbhanj districts. The projects, scheduled to be completed by 2028, are expected to bring thousands of hectares of agricultural land under irrigation, particularly benefiting farmers in Jhumpura and Jarakani areas.
Majhi also inaugurated several public welfare projects, including a new State Bank of India (SBI) branch and the newly-constructed Jhumpura Community Health Centre.
The chief minister pointed out that multiple development initiatives are already underway in Kendujhar, including the transformation of Maa Tarini shrine, establishment of a large textile park and a disaster recovery and data centre.
