Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) on Friday arrested four persons for allegedly committing financial irregularities at the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC), Bhubaneswar.
The accused have been identified as proprietor of M/s NVT Packers & Movers T Pandu Ranga Rao of Chandanada in Visakhapatnam, proprietor of M/s Nirupama Travels Achyutananda Das of Rahania in Bhadrak district of Odisha, proprietor of M/s Spena Ranjit Kumar Sadangi of Hartnagar in Ganjam district and proprietor of M/s Bindu Diagnostics Vinod Kumar Singh, a resident of Mumbai.
These persons, all vendors/suppliers of the RMRC, haad allegedly misappropriated money from its office at Chandrasekharpur here on October 26 this year.
The accused persons will soon be forwarded to Bhubaneswar SDJM Court.
The case was registered on the report of RMRC’s Administrative Officer, who alleged that the then steno in the office of the director of the research centre Dillip Kumar Mohanty and others in respect of fraud charges and misappropriation of central government funds to the tune of Rs 1.22 crore.
Mohanty was arrested in this connection on March 3, 2016.
During investigation, it was further ascertained that T Pandu Ranga Rao had received undue and excess amount of Rs 3 lakh. Similarly, Achyutananda Das, Ranjit Kumar Sarangi and Vinod Singh had received Rs 13,23,130, Rs 2.60 lakh and Rs 8.25 lakh respectively in connivance with Dillip Kumar Mohanty by fabricating documents and using the same as genuine.
