Visakhapatnam: Police have busted the highway robbery gang, which allegedly looted travellers on the Darakonda ghat road here, with the arrest of four persons, belonging to Odisha.
Those arrested have been identified N Biswar (21), Sushant Rai (22), Mahesh Sarkar (21) and Rakesh Biswas (26), all natives of Malkangiri district. A stolen car and three mobile phones were recovered from their possession.
According to The Hindu, four special teams headed by GK Veedhi CI G. Ashok Kumar and CCS SI L. Himagiri were formed to nab the gang on the direction of Superintendent of Police B Krishna Rao.
GK Veedhi CI Ashok Kumar and the Sileru Police Station staff arrested the four. Three more accused are absconding, the report added.
The gang had been robbing travellers in the Visakha tribal area for the past few months.
To trace the miscreants, the district police had installed CCTV cameras along the route.
