Bhubaneswar: Four persons, who hurtled past a police barricade in a car injuring a cop, were arrested after a 300-metre chase in Odisha capital on Saturday night.
They have been identified as Motilal Samal (24), Manish Kumar Ojha (21), Tanmay Tatwa Sarathi Nayak (24), Mrutyunjay Samal (26), all natives of Kendrapada’s Benipur village.
According to police sources, the incident took place near Care Hospital during night blocking and checking under Chandrasekharpur police limits to curb drunken driving. The driver of the car stepped on the accelerator after spotting the police barricade while moving from Nalco Chhak to Damana Chhak. The vehicle then rammed into the barricade and hit a police officer, seriously injuring him, before speeding away.
While the injured cop was admitted to a nearby private hospital, a police team chased the car and managed to nab the four. The person driving the car was found drunk.
Besides arresting the four, police have seized the car and investigating further.
