Angul/Nabarangpur: At least four people died while three others sustained critical injures in two separate road accidents in Angul and Nabarangpur districts on Thursday evening.

In the first incident, two persons were killed and another was seriously injured after the scooty on which they were travelling was hit by a sand-laden truck from the rear.

Irked over the mishap, a group of irate locals set the truck on fire. However, the driver of the truck managed to flee the spot.

Similarly, a woman and her daughter died when a speeding mini truck ran over the motorcycle, while they were travelling at Umerkote in Nabarangpur district. Two others suffered grievous injuries in the accident. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Following the incident, a mob staged a blockade on Nabarangpur-Umerkote road demanding compensation for the family of the deceased.
