Sambalpur: Four more staffers of Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT), Burla, tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.
According to varsity sources, swab samples of 60 employees of the varsity were earlier sent for COVID-19 test after the husband of a lecturer succumbed to the virus. The lecturer had also tested coronavirus positive and shifted to COVID hospital in Cuttack.
Following detection of four new cases, the authorities decided to shut the varsity till July 11.
“In pursuance of the COVID-19 rule, the university will remain closed till July 11 for evolved COVID contamination situation. Further, all (employees) are instructed to remain at the headquarters, failing which disciplinary proceedings as per OCS (CC&A) Rules 1962, as well as a penalty, will be imposed,” a VSSUT notification said.
