Cuttack: The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has announced the squad for the upcoming Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy to be held in Lucknow from October 11.
There are four newcomers in the team — Aasirwad Swain, Om T Munde, Sushil Barik and Mushtaq Beg. The team will be led by Abhisekh Raut while Swain is the wicketkeeper.
Among others, OCA has also selected Odisha-born former Hong Kong cricketer Anshuman Rath and star player Subhranshu Senapati in the team.
Odisha will play its inaugural match against Sikkim on October 11. Odisha is placed in Group E along with West Bengal, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and Sikkim.
As per the schedule, the league matches of the current season of Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy would be played between October 11 and 22 while the knockout matches would be played between October 30 and November 5.
The Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy is one of the most prestigious domestic cricket tournaments of the country. Ever since the tournament began in 2006-07, Odisha has not won the trophy yet.
