Bhubaneswar: Four couples belonging to Kendrapada did not have to think hard while deciding a name for their respective babies born yesterday, August 23, the day the country achieved the extraordinary feat of the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the moon’s south pole.
So the parents of babies born at the district headquarters hospital of Kendrapada on Wednesday named their newborns after the lunar mission to commemorate the historic moment. Accordingly, all four children, three boys and a girl were named ‘Chandrayaan.’
Ranu Mallick of Aripada village gave birth to a son minutes after Chandrayaan-3’s smooth landing on the moon. Her overjoyed husband, Pravat, lost not time in naming him ‘Chandrayaan.’
Joshnyarani Bal of Nilakanthapur and Bebina Sethi of Angelei village also named their newborn sons Chandrayaan, while Durga Mandal of Talachua village gave her baby girl the same name.
