Bhubaneswar: Four districts in south Odisha have been badly affected by heavy rainfall in the last 48 hours under the influence of a low pressure, said the office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) in a release on Thursday.
According to the release, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Koraput and Nabarangpur districts have been badly affected.
Road communication to several places in Malkangiri district has been cut off, it said, adding that barring the water level of the Saberi, which is on the rise, the water level of other rivers is flowing under the danger level.
In Kalahandi district, nine blocks have been badly affected. Till Wednesday, 704 persons in the low-lying areas have been shifted to safer places. The district administration has engaged the NDRF team in the rescue work for which four powerboats have been provided.
In Koraput district, 126 villages have been affected. The district administration has engaged the ODRAF team in the rescue work in the Kotpad block, the release added.
