Frame Innovative Policy For Women, Farmers: CM

Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the ‘Make in Odisha’ conclave, the flagship biennial business event of the Odisha government scheduled to kick off at Janata Maidan in Odisha capital on November 11, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday directed the officials to frame a new and innovative policy for the women and farmers to encourage them to become the entrepreneurs.

Presiding over a preparatory meeting at the State Secretariat here, the Chief Minister asked the department heads to frame a specific industrial policy to encourage the entrepreneurs of India and abroad to invest their capital in the state.

He also directed the chief secretary to apprise him of the framing of new industrial policy at the earliest.

Among others, development commissioner R. Balakrishnan, principal secretary, Industries and secretaries of other departments were present at the meeting.

About 60 industrial delegates from several countries, including China, Germany, Japan, Italy, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, are expected to attend the conclave. Apart from the overseas delegates, more than 2000 representatives of the companies, who have been invited to invest in the steel, food processing, handloom, chemicals, aerospace and sports sectors, will also participate.

Besides, 50 large industries from India, including the 60 foreign industrial delegates, will display products at the conclave which will conclude on November 15.
