Bhubaneswar: In Laxmisagar area of Bhubaneswar, a self-proclaimed doctor of HIV and cancer care was arrested by police on Wednesday.
The bogus doctor falsely claimed to be an expert in HIV and cancer treatment without having the necessary credentials. He allegedly looted patients of several thousand rupees, ACP Manas Kumar Deo said.
Prime accused in this case has been identified as Ajit Kumar Kandi (47) of Dengabahali village in Bhuban block of Dhenkanal district. Two of his associates, claiming to be skin specialists have also been arrested.
The trio was running a unit named Asclepius Wellness Pvt Ltd from Satya Nagar area of the city and sold medications and wellness products under the same brand, the police said.
More than a dozen bottles of tablets, syrups, identity cards and cash of Rs 1.17 lakh has been seized from the possession of the accused.
Further investigation in this case is underway, the ACP added.
