‘Fraud Marshal’: Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir Brutally Trolled At Times Square

Asim Munir mocked

New York: Pakistan’s Army chief Asim Munir, who was recently promoted to the rank of Field Marshal by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is at the receiving end of some brutal trolls. That, too, on the international stage.

Digital billboards at New York’s iconic Times Square mocked Munir with slogans and titles like ‘Fraud Marshal’, ‘Loser’, ‘Deceiver’, ‘Liar’ etc. Even PM Sharif wasn’t spared, and he too was the target of biting slogans.

Footage of the Times Square billboards are being widely circulated on social media.

One of the banners asked Munir to undergo a polygraph test over his recent claims about India, implying that his promotion was politically driven.

The rotating digital display, mounted on a truck, featured multiple messages.

One slogan read – ‘The Deceiver & his two crooks’ — with images of Munir, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Sharif.

Another telling message said — “Good work makes you stand tall, not fake titles’ – referring to Munir’s ceremonial promotion despite Pakistan suffering massive setbacks at the hands of India in Operation Sindoor and the military conflict that followed last month.

‘Liar why don’t you take a poll’ and ‘Will do anything for self-interest’ directly attacked Munir.

Among other messages displayed were — “Illegally detained detained for 2 years’, showing Imran Khan behind bars.

Another one projected former Prime Minister and Tehreek-e-Insaf party leader Imran as ‘Real Hero’.

India avenged the deadly April 22 Pahalgam terror attack by destroying nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on the night of May 6-7, eliminating more than 100 terrorists. Pakistan retaliated with drones and missile attacks on several Indian towns on the northern and western fronts, but Indian Armed forces hit back hard by striking at several key airbases in Pakistan.

The conflict ended after Pakistan requested a ceasefire on the afternoon of May 10.

In such a backdrop, the promotion of General Munir to Field Marshal — an honour traditionally associated with landmark military victories — triggered widespread controversy.

Netizens reacted to the Times Square billboards by labelling Munir a “liar” and a “fraud”. Some called him “Failed Marshal.”
