New Delhi: As part of the central government’s ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and 75th Independence Day celebrations, entry to monuments and sites protected by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) in Odisha and all other states will be free for 11 days, starting from August 5.
“As part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ and 75th I-Day celebrations, @ASIGoI has made entry free for visitors/ tourists to all its protected monuments/sites across the country, from 5th-15th August, 2022,” Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy said in a tweet.
No entry will be charged for Indian nationals as well as foreign visitors to the monuments under the ASI’s control.
There are 46 centrally protected monuments under ASI in Odisha, including Sun Temple in Konark, Jagannath Temple in Puri, Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar, Udaygiri and Khandagiri caves which are ticketed.
The total number of ASI-protected monuments in the entire country is 3600, of which 116 across 19 states are ticketed.
For the next 11 days, however, people can visit all these ticketed sites free of charge.
