Bhubaneswar: CPI Bhubaneswar North MLA candidate Sankarshana Barik is giving a free haircut to people to persuade them and their family members and friends to vote for him.

Barik, who is visiting different villages and wards under the constituency appealing people to vote for him by offering free haircut service, is confident someday people will vote for truth if not in this election.

“I have always worked selflessly for people. Success and failure are part of life. Of the 11 players who go to the field, all do not win. But we still fight. Today, 1,000 people may get to know me because of my unique campaigning style. It may grow to 5,000 and then 50,000 one day. A day will come when people will stand by the truth. I have complete belief,” he told media.

He, however, also says that people know both the BJP and BJD candidates are making false promises as both parties have not fulfilled their promises during their respective tenures. “I am telling people to accept the truth and do not believe in false promises. But vote for me only if your soul says I am a good candidate,” he said.

Barik, who is contesting BJD’s Susanta Kumar Rout and BJP’s Priyadarshi Mishra, says he does not have the money for flashy campaigns.

With no funds and a party cadre to work for him, Barik says his election campaign relies on haircut service and a few supporters from his village. “I have the support of people in my village. They are helping me in the election campaign. I am loyal to my village and one who is loyal to his village is loyal to people and state,” he said.
