Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet on Friday gave the go ahead for distribution of shoes, socks and sweater to pre-school children in the age group of 3 to 6 years enrolled in anganwadi centres.
Currently, each pre-school child is being provided with two sets of pre-school uniforms as per the prescribed colour composition under Malati Devi Prak Vidyalaya Paridhan.
“Now, Cabinet has given approval to distribute one pair of shoes and socks per child from 2019-20 and one sweater per child from 2020-21 to protect feet of these children from harm, injury and prevent infection by hookworm and other germs and keep them warm in winters,” a government press release said.
