Bhubaneswar: Keeping in view the scorching heat, Bhubaneswar-based voluntary youth organisation Jai Odisha launched ‘Jeevandhara’ campaign by giving watermelon slices to passersby at Saheed Nagar’s Durga Puja Mandap here on Thursday.
Inaugurating the event, Dr Jagannath Mohapatra said, “Eating a slice of watermelon is as good as having one full glass of water. It not only hydrates your body but also provides nutrients and minerals”.
“If the general public comes together, then we can surely tackle this summer heat with ease. This step also aims at encouraging people to include fruits in their daily diet,” said Founder and President of Jai Odisha, Rudra Narayan Samantaray.
He hoped that people replicate this model across the city.
Watermelon slices will be given to passersby for 15 days from 12 pm to 3 pm free of cost, he added.
