New Delhi: With four days left for Delhi assembly polls, eight outgoing MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here on Saturday.
The MLAs – Vandana Gaur (Palam), Rohit Mehraulia (Trilokpuri), Girish Soni (Madipur), Madan Lal (Kasturba Nagar), Rajesh Rishi (Uttam Nagar), BS Joon (Bijwasan), Naresh Yadav (Mehrauli) and Pawan Sharma (Adarsh Nagar)- had resigned from AAP on Friday, saying they had “lost faith in the party and its supremo Arvind Kejriwal.”
Sources, however, said that they were reportedly disgruntled after being denied tickets for the upcoming polls.
Former AAP MLA Vijender Garg, along with several other leaders from the APP party, also joined the saffron outfit in the presence of the party’s national vice-president and Delhi in-charge, Baijayant Panda, and state president Virendra Sachdeva.
Welcoming the new members, Panda called it a “historic” day, saying that they had freed themselves from “AAP-da” (disaster). He added that Delhi too would be rid of AAP after the February 5 elections.
