Fresh Controversy Grips Raurkela Circuit House Over Actress Stay, Probe On

Raurkela: Three persons, including the son of a retired SP-rank officer, were detained by the police in connection with the stay of an adult film actor at the government-run Circuit House in Odisha’s Rourkela city over nine months ago.

Investigators are conducting investigation to ascertain as to how the actor was accommodated at the circuit house and whether due procedures were followed while allotting the room in December, last year.

The fresh row surfaces close on the heels of a controversy over the arrest of Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram’s Rourkela representative Prakash Paswan (35) on charges of harbouring criminals at the circuit house.

According to police sources, a local travel operator had provided a luxury vehicle on hire to the owner of a private firm in Uditnagar. The actor was allegedly brought from Jharsuguda airport to Rourkela in the vehicle.

Police suspect that the son of the retired police officer, who is reportedly known to the firm owner, played a role in arranging accommodation for her at the circuit house. The matter came to light after videos allegedly shared by the actor on social media showed portions of her road journey from Jharsuguda to Rourkela and the interiors of the circuit house.

As a controversy emerged, police launched a probe on Thursday evening and detained the travel agency owner, the retired officer’s son and a co-owner of the private firm for questioning.

Officials are examining the circumstances under which the booking was made and the purpose of visit.

The police have detained at least three persons, a businessman, the owner of a luxury car, and the son of a former Superintendent of Police (SP)-rank officer for questioning in this connection. Employees of the circuit house are also being questioned.
