Bhubaneswar: A fresh cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal later this month, according to North Indian Ocean Extended Range Outlook for Cyclogenesis issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday.
The cyclonic circulation is likely to form over east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea between October 14 and October 20, and move in a west-northwestwards direction with “low” probability of further intensification.
“There is a likelihood of formation of a cyclonic circulation over east-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Andaman Sea during week 2 with low probability of its further intensification and west-northwestwards movement,” it said.
The existing cyclonic circulation over central parts of south Bay of Bengal is likely to move westnorthwestwards with a low probability of its intensification into a low-pressure area, it added.
