Fresh LoPAR To Form Over Bay Tomorrow; Heavy Rain To Batter Odisha Again

Bhubaneswar: With a fresh low pressure area likely to form over the Bay of Bengal on Thursday, Odisha is set to witness resumption of heavy rain, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) informed on Wednesday.

The cyclonic circulation now lies over coastal Andhra Pradesh and neighbourhood. Under its influence, a fresh low pressure area is likely to form over westcentral and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around September 5 (Thursday), it said.

Several parts of Odisha are likely to experience a wet spell during the next four days under the influence of the fresh low pressure area.

Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorms with lightning may occur at isolated places in the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, and Nabarangpur during the next 24 hours. Thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places of Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nuapada, and Balangir during the period.

Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorms are with lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada, Rayagada, Ganjam, and Gajapati districts. The weather agency has issued yellow warning for these areas.
Similarly, thunderstorms with lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.

Sept 6

Yellow Warning: Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorms with lightning may occur at isolated places in the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal.

Sept 7

Yellow Warning: Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) and thunderstorm with lightning may occur at isolated places in the districts of Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Nayagarh.

Sept 8

Yellow Warning: Heavy rain (7 to 11cm) is likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Deogarh.
