Bhubaneswar: Amid rain fury unleashed in Odisha by cyclone Arnab, a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the south Andaman Sea in next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
The weather system is expected to develop under the influence of an upper-air cyclonic circulation persisting over the south Andaman Sea and neighbourhood, extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.
However, no clear forecast has been made about the future course of the new system. While most ensemble and artificial intelligence-based models indicate that the circulation will move north-westwards and weaken within the next two days, the Global Forecast System (GFS) group of models suggest further intensification.
