Bhubaneswar: A fresh low pressure area is likely to form over Andaman Sea and neighbourhood around November 13, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
The system is expected to move west-northwestwards and become more marked in the subsequent 48 hours.
According to the IMD GFS model, the system is likely to head towards Andhra Pradesh and reach the coast around November 17.
The Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC), SOA Deemed to be University, had also forecast the formation of another low-pressure area over the central Bay of Bengal on November 14 which may get very close to central Andhra Pradesh coast on November 16. This could result in moderate rainfall at many places over Odisha with heavy rainfall at one or two locations in south Odisha districts.
Meanwhile, the low-pressure area over the southeast Bay of Bengal has become well-marked. It is likely to concentrate into a depression over the same region during the next 12 hours and move west–northwestwards reaching north Tamilnadu coast by the early morning of November 11.
Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move west-northwestwards and cross north Tamil Nadu and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coast between Karaikal and Sriharikota around Cuddalore by the evening, the IMD tweeted.
Under its influence, Odisha is likely to experience light to moderate rain till November 14.
