Bhubaneswar: With a fresh low pressure taking shape over the Bay of Bengal, heavy rain is likely to pound several parts of Odisha over the next five days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.
An east-west trough now runs from Andhra Pradesh coast to south coastal Maynmar with two embedded upper air cyclonic circulations, one over west-central Bay of Bengal and another over south coastal Myanmar and neighbourhood. The second upper air cyclonic circulation is likely to move west-northwestwards.
Under the influence of these two upper air cyclonic circulations, a low-pressure area is likely to form over west-central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around Monday (September 23), it said.
The weather agency issued yellow warning for thunderstorm with lightning at isolated places in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Rayagada, Koraput, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Deogarh during the next 24 hours.
