Bhubaneswar: A fresh low pressure area has formed over north Odisha and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal, raising the likelihood of heavy downpour in the state.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, the low pressure formed over north Odisha and adjoining areas of Gangetic West Bengal on Saturday extends up to 5.8 km above mean sea level.
Under the influence of the system, many parts of Odisha in north and interior region are likely to witness heavy rainfall from today.
Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Boudh today.
Heavy rainfall is also likely to occur at some places of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir and Kandhamal districts on Sunday.
Similarly, heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Dhenkanal, Angul, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Balangir, Kandhamal on July 31.
Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, Nayagarh and Kalahandi on the same day.
