Mumbai: Ravi Kishan’s viral “Money Follows” moment is getting a musical makeover. The popular meme is now being turned into a song, set to release on September 11, and has already created buzz with the actor’s promise that it will “make the whole country mad.”
The phrase gained popularity after Ravi Kishan was asked in an interview whether he would choose “pehchaan” (recognition) or “paisa” (money).
He chose recognition and added his now-famous line, “Money follows my brother, money follows!” The remark soon became a social media talking point.
The new music video appears to capitalise on the buzz and humour surrounding the actor’s viral statement.
The teaser opens with a mother confronting her son over his disinterest in studies. The boy then lip-syncs to Ravi Kishan’s voiceover, delivering the line, “Pure desh ko pagla dunga, abhi kuch pesh kiya hai, suno (I will make the whole country mad. I have written something, listen to it),” before the video cuts to Kishan delivering his famous catchphrase.
Ravi Kishan took to Instagram to share the teaser, tagging the makers and writing, “Poore desh ko paglaane aa raha hu @ravikishann #MoneyFollowsMyBrother releasing on 11th sep”.
The announcement sparked a wave of humorous reactions from fans, with comments such as, “Hamari reels dekh li inhone (He must have seen our reels),” “Ravi Kishan enjoying his memes,” and “Aapda ko avsar mein badalna koi inse sikhe (Someone should learn from him how to turn a crisis into an opportunity),” accompanied by a string of laughing emojis.
On the work front, Ravi Kishan is earning praise for his portrayal of antagonist Babban Yadav in ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’, which hit theatres on September 4.
The actor will next be seen in ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla 2’.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Ravi Kishan reflected on his journey as a meme sensation and credited Gen Z for embracing him and introducing his work to a younger audience through memes.
He said, “The best part is that this is happening organically. Even the BJP handle, Delhi Police and Maharashtra Government have made memes. I am personally following it all and dropping a ‘like’ as well. No one has discovered me before. Now, they want to see me more and know me more. Gen Z has accepted me as their own. I really want to thank them and salute their creativity.”
He added, “Out of love, they call me Lord Ravi, God Ravi, today’s Osho and whatnot! They love real people; they connect with my imperfections, which makes them feel I am one amongst them. Everyone makes mistakes, so do I and I accept it as well. Main dil se bolta hoon aur meri sacchai logon ko pasand aa rahi hai (I speak from the heart and that is why people are liking me).”
