New Delhi: Nine places in Odisha will witness reduction in fuel prices with oil marketing companies (OMCs) deciding to rationalise intrastate freight to help reduce retail price disparities within states, except in poll-bound regions.
While hailing the decision as historic, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, said that intrastate freight adjustments will benefit consumers in remote areas as it will result in a decrease in petrol and diesel prices in several parts of the country. “In Kunanpally & Kalimela in Odisha’s Malkangiri petrol price will reduce by Rs 4.69 & Rs 4.55; and diesel price will reduce by Rs 4.45 & Rs 4.32, respectively….,” he posted on X.

The OMCs also announced a revision in the dealer margins, effective from October 30, 2024, following the resolution of a pending legal matter. It said the decision will have no impact on retail selling price of products.
The Minister said that the decision to enhance dealer commission will ultimately lead to better services for consumers at petrol pumps.
