Bhubaneswar: Amid the countrywide uproar over the steep hike in fuel prices, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas and Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday hoped that the situation will stabilise very soon.
“The fuel price in India has gone up in the last few months due to fall in the production of crude oil in the international market and the United States. But this is temporary as the oil production is expected to go up very soon,” Dharmendra told the media.
Referring to the prevailing fuel price in the country, he said the consumers will be benefitted if the petrol and diesel are brought under the purview of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Stating that the Centre is making relentless efforts for the inclusion of these two petroleum products, he said that the GST Council will take a call on this matter.
