Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the 72nd Independence Day celebrations, a full dress rehearsal of the state-level parade was held at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here on Monday.
The rehearsal was held under the leadership of Director General of Police (DGP) Rajendra Prasad Sharma in presence of Twin City Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty and other senior officials of Information and Public Relations department.
As many as 44 troupes and 39 contingents will take part in the parade.
Adequate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure smooth conduct of the state-level celebration of Independence Day. As many as 30 platoons of police force will be deployed at the parade venue that will be under CCTV surveillance to maintain a strict vigil on wrongdoers.
This year, a police troupe from West Bengal will take in the parade. Similarly, a troupe of Odisha Police has been sent to West Bengal to participate in the parade there with an aim to promote inter-state cooperation and fellow feeling.
Besides, elaborate arrangements have also been made for security at major establishments, railway stations, airports and other important places in the city.
