Full Emergency At Ahmedabad Airport Over Technical Glitch On Diverted Qatar Airways Flight

Qatar airways flight emergency landing ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: A Hong Kong-bound Qatar Airways flight from Doha was diverted to Ahmedabad airport on Tuesday afternoon after it developed some technical issues mid-air, PTI reported.

Flight QR-816 took off from Doha’s Hamad International Airport around 9 am (Qatar time) and was “diverted” and landed safely at Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA).

“Due to some technical issues mid-air, the Doha-Hong Kong flight of Qatar Airways was diverted to Ahmedabad as a precautionary measure. It safely landed at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International airport at around 2.40 pm,” an airport official said.

A full emergency was declared at the airport, ANI reported. Normal services resumed some time after the flight landed without glitches.

The decision to resume the Qatar Airways flight will be taken after a thorough inspection of the aircraft at the airport, an official said.

The emergency announcement alarmed passengers present at the airport, as they were reminded of the horrific Air India flight AI-171 crash that took place 30 seconds after take-off from here on June 12, killing all but 242 people on board the London-board plane and 19 others on the ground.
