G Udaipur MLA Jacob Pradhan Quits Congress

Kandhamal: A day after filing his nomination as an Independent candidate, G Udaipur MLA Jacob Pradhan quit the Congress on Wednesday.

He had earlier been denied the Congress party ticket to contest from the seat. Jacob alleged that OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik and Pradeep Majhi conspired to deny him the ticket.

In a letter addressed to AICC president Rahul Gandhi, he said: “I am a Christian tribal MLA, who kept the party banner high during the debacle of the Congress party in Odisha. I was the only candidate who won a seat during the 2014 elections in Kandhamal parliamentary constituency. I am humiliated severely and mentally tortured.”

Shyamghan Pradhan has been appointed as the Congress candidate to contest from G Udaygiri constituency.
