Bhubaneswar: With winter chill making a comeback to Odisha, G Udayagiri, the hill station in Kandhamal, continued to be the coldest place at 4.8°C for the second consecutive day on Friday.
The other places, where mercury plummeted to 10°C and below, in the last 24 hours are Semiliguda (6.5°C), Rourkela (7.2°C), Phulbani (7.5°C), Jharsuguda (7.8°C), Daringbadi (8.5°C), Chiplima in Sambalpur (9.3°C), Angul (9.6°C), Kirei in Sundargarh (9.9°C) and Sundargarh (10°C), according to weather update shared by India Meteorological Department this morning.
Jharsuguda saw the night temperature drop 4.2°C below normal.
Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded 12.4°C and 14°C respectively, which was 1°C below normal. The twin cities had recorded 13°C and 13.2°C respectively the previous day.
The weather agency has predicted no large change in the night temperature during the next 4 days.
Dense fog also engulfed Rourkela and Phulbani, reducing visibility to 50 metres. Shallow to moderate fog was also seen in Gopalpur.
Shallow to moderate fog may continue at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh and Sundargarh till Saturday morning, the IMD stated.
