Bhubaneswar: As cold wave conditions continued to sweep Odisha, the mercury plummeted below 10 degree Celsius in at least 13 places in the last 24 hours.
As per India Meteorological Department (IMD), G Udayagiri in Kandhamal remained the coldest place in the state recording 4.7 °C followed by Rourkela (5.7°C), Similiguda (6.5°C), Jharsuguda (7.2°C) and Phulbani (7.5).
Other places where the mercury dropped below or touched 10 degree Celsius were Sundargarh (8.6), Keonjhar (8.9), Angul, Bhawanipatna, Nabarangpur, Kirei, Chipilima ( all 9), Bhadrak (9.5), both Balangir & Daringbadi (10).
In Bhubaneswar, the minimum temperature was recorded at 13.6 degree Celsius while the mercury stood at 12.5 in Cuttack.
The weather agency predicted that there will be a gradual rise in minimum temperature (night temperature) by 3-5 degree Celsius during the next 3 days over the districts of the state.
