G Udayagiri Coldest In Odisha At 8.4°C, Night Temp Hovers Around 15°C In Bhubaneswar, Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: With cold wave sweeping Odisha, mercury hovered around 10 degree Celsius at five places in the state in the last 24 hours, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre informed on Wednesday.

G Udayagiri in Kandhamal distrit was the coldest at 8.4 degree Celsius followed by Kirei in Sundargarh at 9.2, Keonjhar at 9.6 degree Celsius and Phulbani and Daringbadi, also in Kandhamal, at 10 degree Celsius. Koraput recorded 10.8 degree Celsius, which was 2.3 degree less than normal.

The weather agency further informed that 32 places, including twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, in total registered night temperature of 15 degree Celsius or less.

Bhubaneswar and Cuttack continued to feel the winter chill at 15 and 14.8 degree Celsius respectively. The night temperature recorded at the state capital was 1 degree less than normal.

Along with cold wave, the interior parts of the state are witnessing foggy weather conditions, it added.

Notably, this year’s cold weather condition in Odisha was delayed from November to the first week of December, due to the influence of cyclonic rains. However, the night temperature dropped by 2-3 degrees in last couple of days amid inflow of northerly or north-westerly dry wind.

The MeT office, however, has forecast no large change in the minimum temperature during next 4 days.
