Bhubaneswar: The night temperature plummeted below 12 degree Celsius at eight places in Odisha in the last 24 hours with G Udayagiri in Kandhamal being the coldest at 7.5 degree Celsius, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Department informed on Monday.
The hill station has been recording the lowest minimum temperature in the state for the four days.
Besides G Udayagiri, Koraput recorded 8.3 degree Celsius, Daringbadi and Phulbani, both in Kandhamal, 9.5 and 10 degree Celsius, respectively, followed by Angul at 11 degree Celsius, Nabarangpur and Kirei in Sundargarh at 11.4 degree Celsius each and Semiliguda in Koraput at 11.5 degree Celsius.
The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar recorded 15 and 16.2 degree Celsius respectively, which was 1.5 and 1.2 degrees above normal. The state capital witnessed a slight rise in the mercury after registering below normal temperature for 2 days.
Dense fog also engulfed Cuttack, Balangir, Rourkela and Phulbani this morning. Shallow and moderate fog was seen in Kendrapada, Baripada, Chandbali, Bhawanipatna and Keonjhar.
The weather agency has issued yellow warning of dense fog for one or two places in Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Koraput till 8.30 am on Tuesday.
Shallow to moderate fog may also occur at a few places in Coastal Odisha, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, and at one or two places in remaining parts of the state.
