New Delhi: There were doubts whether a consensus would be reached among all G20 members on a joint communique that is conventionally released at the end of every summit.
But on the first day of the summit itself, the New Delhi Leaders’ Summit Declaration was adopted on Saturday after India convinced all member states to agree to the 83-para document.
“I have received good news. Due to the hard work of our team, consensus has been built on New Delhi G20 Leaders’ Summit Declaration. My proposal is to adopt this leadership declaration… I announce adoption of this declaration,” Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced.
“I congratulate my Sherpa, ministers who worked hard for it and made it possible,” the PM added.
G20 Sherpa for India Amitabh Kant said the New Delhi Declaration was “historical and path breaking” as it had a 100 per cent consensus from the members on all developmental and geo-political issues.
“The new geopolitical paras are a powerful call for planet, people, peace and prosperity in today’s world,” he added.
5 Key Areas Of New Delhi G20 Declaration
