Paralakhemundi: The district administration has adopted two children, who lost their father in the severe cyclonic storm ‘Titli’ in Gajapati district.
Sekhar Sabar of Suaba village in the district perished in the landslide in Mahendraga hill, following heavy rain triggered by the cyclonic storm. His body was recovered by Garabandha police and sent for postmortem.
Sekhar’s children had lost their mother earlier.
Police Officer Prashant Bhupati got to know about the two children, who had been orphaned. With the help of district administration, they were then sent to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).
“The district administration will take care of Sekhar’s son and daughter,” said Gajapati collector Anupam Saha.
They will be put up at Navjeevan Child Care Institution. “We have adopted them and already completed the procedure with CWC,” he added.
Sekhar’s daughter Mili Sabar said, “The state government has decided to take our responsibilities after the death of our father. We will try to be good human beings.”
