New Delhi: Chinese nationals will no longer be provided accommodation in over 3,000 hotels and guest houses across Delhi.

The Delhi Hotel and Restaurant Owners Association (DHROA) said on Thursday that a decision to this effect had been taken in line with the call to boycott Chinese products, during a meeting of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).

“The Chinese are not the world, we can survive without them. We are all law-abiding citizens and no one will take law in their hands, but this would make the Chinese worried… War and trade can not happen at the same time,” DHROA president Sandeep Khandelwal said, referring to the border clash at Galwan Valley which led to the death of 20 Indian soldiers last week.

Efforts were being made to get the five-star hotels on board, vis-à-vis the no-Chinese decision. Several hotels have agreed, but Khandelwal said no one will be forced to follow the decision.

He added that the hotels’ association will try to convince their counterparts in other states to follow Delhi’s example.

CAIT national secretary general Praveen Khandelwal said they will welcome anyone who wishes to join the campaign to boycott Chinese products.
