Bargarh: A man posing as a tehsildar and extorting money from a tractor owner was arrested at Adapani village in Bargarh district on Saturday.
Police said the accused, Pritviraj, had introduced himself as the tehsildar of Jharabandha and allegedly extorted Rs 23,000 from the tractor owner in May.
Later, the victim lodged a police complaint. “Based on the complaint, we raided the hide-out of the accused and arrested him. We also seized a country-made pistol from his possession,” Padampur SDPO Pradeep Sahu said.
