Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet on Monday decided to organise Mahatma Gandhi centenary celebrations to commemorate first visit to Odisha on March 23, 1921.
The one year celebrations will begin from March 23, 2021, it was decided.
During his first visit to the State, Mahatma had addressed a historic gathering on the banks of river Kathajodi in Cuttack district on the day.
Gandhiji had visited Odisha eight times between 1921-1946.
A Government official said the centenary celebration will inspire the people of Odisha, especially youths, on the ideals and principles of Mahatma, and above all his mantra of Ahimsa and the magnitude of his greatness.
