Bhubaneswar: After a two-year break due to COVID curbs, Odisha’s capital Bhubaneswar is all set to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in a grand way this year with organisers planning giant idols as tall as 50 feet at some puja venues.
Ahead of the much-awaited festival, preparations are going on in full swing at different puja pandals as people are eager to celebrate Ganesh Puja amid fanfare without any curbs and restrictions.
A special attraction this time will be a 50-ft idol which is being prepared to be worshipped at Nayapalli. The organisers are also planning a 50-kg laddu to be offered to Lord Ganesh, sources said.
“Artists from Kolkata and Mumbai have been working for the past three months in building the huge Ganesh idol for this year’s celebrations,” said a puja organizer.
This apart, devotees and visitors to the pandal will be treated to various cultural events for eleven days during the celebrations, he said, adding that the pandal will be tastefully decorated.
Another high-rise Ganesh idol is reportedly being prepared at Badagada, reports said adding that around 51-feet tall Ganesh idol with 8-feet Mushak (mouse) will be worshipped at the pandal where a 50 kg laddu will be offered to the lord.
Similarly, a 46-feet Ganesh is reportedly being erected at Saheed Nagar. Here also, a 50-kg Ladu will be offered to the Lord.
