Sambalpur: Odisha’s Gangadhar Meher University (GMU) is now the only university in the state that has made its infrastructure facilities accessible for persons with disabilities (PwD). The building’s elevator was inaugurated on Tuesday.
In the presence of GMU Vice-Chancellor Atanu Pati, Higher Education Minister Arun Sahoo virtually inaugurated the elevators installed in the newly-constructed academic annex building of the university.
The annexe building has 15 new classrooms is spread over an area of 756 sq mt. Around Rs 2.64 crore was spent on the construction. The three-storey building will also accommodate six departments — Odia, Sanskrit, History, Philosophy, Sociology and Anthropology.
