Kendrapada: A day after police gunned down gangster Sheikh Hyder, prohibitory order was clamped in Kendrapada town on Sunday to avert any law and order situation.
Kendrapada collector Amrit Ruturaj said Section 144 was imposed in the town at 11 pm on Saturday and it will continue till July 30.
Notably, Hyder hailed from Kendrapada. He was shot dead in an encounter in Balasore on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The Collector said similar curfew orders were clamped in Barimula, Kapaleswar, Gul Nagar and Jamadhar panchayat limits on the periphery of Kendrapada municipality.
“There is tight security to curb the gathering of more than five people at a place to ward off untoward incidents. Only vegetable, grocery and non-veg shops will remain open from 7 am to 11 am in the areas where the prohibitory order is clamped,” Ruturaj told the media.
In another development, police informed that Hyder’s post-mortem will be done at the district headquarters hospital in Balasore on Sunday. The body will be sent to Kendrapada town in the afternoon and handed over to the bereaved family there.
