Cuttack: Son of gangster Hyder, Seikh Azharuddin, and another person were arrested on Friday in connection with the firing during a concert at Katikata Bazaar under Nischintkoili police limits in Salepur block of Odisha’s Cuttack district.
Two persons, Shaikh Imran and Raghunath Mallick, were killed and as many injured in the firing which took place on November 21 night.
According to sources, a concert was organised at the market on the occasion of the golden jubilee celebration of Kartikeswar Puja Committee when Imran had an altercation with a youth. Some locals tried to pacify them, but the youth suddenly opened three rounds of fire on Imran, who died on the spot after a bullet pierced his neck.
When the spectators protested, the accused also shot at them, injuring three persons.
The injured was later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, where Raghunath succumbed to the injuries the following morning. He had sustained bullet wounds on his lower waist and stomach.
Following the incident, police started an investigation leading to arrest of the duo.
