Paralakhemundi: An accused in ganja smuggling, who had escaped from police station 4 years back, has been arrested in Odisha’s Gajapati district.
As per reports, a team of Mohana police station had seized more than 1,000 kg of ganja and arrested two persons in this connection in 2020. But one of them, identified as Sanatan Karad of N Jhalrasing village under R Udaygiri police station in the district, escaped from the police station on the same day.
Though police launched a manhunt to trace Sanatan, they had failed to find him. However, following information about him, a team from Mohana police station conducted a raid on Bachipanka village under Adabha police limits and arrested Sanatan on Monday night.
The police registered another case against Sanatan concerning his escape from their custody and forwarded him to court on Tuesday.
